Grab a bag of glitter and plan a night at home around a computer with your friends. The first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is almost here. We’ve just learned it’s being released on Thursday, March 11th at 6:00AM PST / 9:00AM EST. The Eclipse trailer will really be more of a teaser. It’ll clock in at only 90 seconds long and, as for what it will contain, werewolves, vampires, and Bella looking at one of those two possibilities longingly is a sure bet.

But with the Twilight Flu being what it is, odds are you won’t want to wait till Thursday, so there will also be a teaser for the teaser released on Wednesday, March 10th. That’ll only be a 10 second long version of the 90 second teaser, long enough for Tyler Lautner to flex his muscles or something. That shows up in the morning at around 9AM PST.

You’ll be able to see both the teaser and the teaser for the teaser here on Cinema Blend, as soon as they debut. Stick around, we’ll have them for you and so will the movie’s official site. Or if you want to wait a few extra hours, it’ll officially debut in theaters this weekend in front of the new Robert Pattinson movie Remember Me.

'Twilight''s Rob Pattinson is headed back to the big screen in a romantic new role -- and he tells "The Insider" all about filming love scenes!

Pattinson stars in the new drama, 'Remember Me,' and he says of filming love scenes with "Lost"'s Emilie de Ravin, "It's always scary, I think much more scary for girls."

But he says, "Emily's just like completely comfortable in herself so it makes you feel more comfortable with yourself."

Of choosing to do the film, he explains, "I read it in the summer after I just shot my first 'Twilight' film and [was planning] what to do next. ... I read about 50 scripts and this one just stood out. It seemed completely different and I could hear the voice of the character."

'Remember Me,' which hits theaters on March 12, follows two lovers who are coping with their family tragedies as their newfound love affair progresses. Pierce Brosnan co-stars.

Robert Pattinson keeps a safe distance from the hype in a quest to prove his post-vampire cred, writes David Michael.

'I don't really know how I would want to be remembered,” Robert Pattinson says of an underlining theme to his new film, Remember Me. “In a lot of ways, I'd prefer to not be remembered and just completely wiped clean from memory.”

Pattinson's reticence about being remembered is understandable, given the past 12 months of media coverage of the actor has been limited to the celebration of his good looks and the stardom afforded to him due to his portrayal of the lovelorn vampire Edward Cullen in the phenomenally successful Twilight film series.

For Pattinson, such adulation would fall short of a fitting epitaph. For him, fame is not the name of the game.

When S meets the 23-year-old in London, the shy-natured actor sports the distinct incognito combo of baseball cap and bushy beard. If it's a little overkill in terms of diffusing his sex-symbol image, the practicality of being less recognisable to the rabid legions of teenage subscribers to the cult of "R-Patz" is understandable.


Despite turning his back on the prospect of university at the age of 17 to take up acting after dabbling at his local theatre group near the family home in Barnes, greater London, there's no doubting Pattinson's level-headed smarts in trying to dampen the inferno of attention that engulfs him.

He turns down constant advertising endorsement offers, front-row invitations to fashion shows and reportedly even the offer of a record contract by music mogul Simon Cowell, to cash-in on his lesser known musical talent. Pattinson is keen to temper the fickle nature of success rearing its head, signs of which he's already seen with the release of the second Twilight film.

“I didn't like the way New Moon was reviewed,” reflects the actor. “When something is so hyped, it's inevitable there's a backlash against it.”

Now, the actor has little to fear in terms of any personal backlash from fans. It's something he hopes to avoid by placing increasing importance on the films he manages to squeeze in between shooting the vampire franchise. "Most independent films are never going to get made," he says. “But if you have the financial cachet behind you, you can get it made just off your own back.”

Shot between New Moon and the forthcoming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the tragic family drama of Remember Me is a prime example of that. Taking place in New York on the eve of 9/11, Pattinson plays the rebellious Tyler, who – haunted by the suicide of his older brother and emotionally frustrated by his distant workaholic father (Pierce Brosnan) – finds kinship with Ally (Australian actress Emilie de Ravin), who herself has suffered the loss of her mother.

“My main attraction was to play a role close to myself and because I've never played a normal guy,” says Pattinson, who was hands-on in the development of the film from beginning to end.

“I tried to make it about the point in your adolescence when you're so focused on being an individual and you don't want to accept just being part of the world.”

Despite Pattinson's best intentions, the romance at the heart of the piece, although pleasing his fan base, hardly offers a departure for the actor.

However, things will be notably different in his next film, Bel Ami, which is being made in London. He plays the social-climbing philanderer Georges Durey of Guy de Maupassant's 19th-century novel.

“He's a guy who hates the entire world and just uses women to get money,” Pattinson says of his character, who enjoys romps between the sheets with women played by Uma Thurman and Christina Ricci.

“I thought it was quite a funny little story after doing all these romantic things.”

The hard yards for Pattinson have just begun but rather than believing his own hype, a guilt complex about his good fortune has given him sobriety beyond his years.

“You have to earn your luck,” he says. “I am pretty sure in the next 10 years I'll be working every single day to kind of make up for this.”

Remember Me is released on Friday.

Before Edward Cullen and “Twilight” and the global heartthrob status that followed, there was Robert Pattinson, young actor making his way in the business.

“I thought he was a nice, scruffy young guy from England,” said “Remember Me” director Allen Coulter. He had lunch with Pattinson a year before shooting began.

“Twilight” hadn’t yet opened, and Coulter ultimately cast Pattinson as Tyler Hawkins, an anguished college student estranged from his father who falls in love with the daughter of a cop.


“I thought, ‘What the hell, let’s take a chance on the guy.’ Then suddenly he was a phenomenon.”

When “Remember Me” was filming last year on location in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, security was a must because of paparazzi and fans.

“The actors are trying to do an intimate scene, with a thousand girls vibrating on the hill,” Coulter said.

Pattinson agreed: “The first two weeks were kind of crazy because I was all around (New York University) and Washington Square Park, where there would be tons of people around anyway. But after that you just get used to it. You just block certain things out.”

Why was he so eager to do this movie?

“I barely like anything and so it’s kind of easy to pick your jobs. I was reading a ton of scripts and what shocked me was it just didn’t fall into any (category). It didn’t seem very formulaic and I’d just read tons and tons of formulaic scripts. It was just such a relief to find that.”

Also, he added, “there was something about Tyler - I don’t know - the way he reacted to things. I hadn’t really seen another character like it in a hundred scripts.”

“Twilight: Eclipse” arrives this summer and Pattinson is set to film the fourth and final chapter soon after.

“Remember Me” opens Friday.

Fear not, Twilight fans. This June, Robert Pattinson will be back in theaters as Hollywood's hottest vampire, Edward Cullen, in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Meanwhile, you can catch him making love and war as troubled college student Tyler in the indie drama Remember Me. Parade.com's Jeanne Wolf found out why Pattinson would like to be more like his character, who doesn't hold back his emotions.

The dating game.
"When it comes to the opposite sex, I'm not as fully confident as the guy I play. I don't even remember the last time I asked someone out on a date, like, just went up to them and that's the first thing I did. I'm much more self-conscious and not wanting to fail. So I tend to hold back."

Ditto with unleashing his macho side.
"I related to Tyler in that I wish I could have done things like he did when I had the opportunity. There is something quite satisfying about being a little bit more reckless and even fighting. It's quite cathartic to just sort of randomly start hitting someone. It was fun kind of, letting all your rage go on the set. We had this big scene where I punch out some guys. It went fine and nobody was really hurt at all. But, at the end, I was like doing this thing where I was hitting myself in the arm, sort of pumping myself up. They cut it out of the movie, but I punched myself so hard that I was in a lot of pain for the rest of the shoot. It was the most stupid thing I've ever done."

He's felt the pain before.
"I got beaten up by a lot of people when I was younger. I was a bit of an idiot, but I always thought the assaults were unprovoked. It was after I first started acting and I liked to behave like an actor, or how I thought an actor was supposed to be, and that apparently provoked a lot of people into hitting me."

What he learned from Pierce Brosnan.
"We went out to dinner in a restaurant full of all these guys who looked like bankers or brokers. They didn't recognize me, but they recognized Pierce. And he said, 'Notice those people looking over?' I'm sitting there getting more and more self-conscious, even though I didn't realize they weren't looking at me. Suddenly, Pierce got up and introduced himself to everybody in the restaurant. At first I was like, 'What are you doing? You're like completely insane.' But it worked. Everybody just relaxed and stopped staring and you could tell they were going to go home and say, 'Pierce is such a nice guy.'"

No problem with being compared to James Dean.
"I think he was like the most influential person for young guys, especially actors, in the last 50 years. So yeah, I mean, I'm not ashamed to say I am very much influenced by him."

Facing up to the pressure of the box office.
"It's like a kind of a monster thing. The more people think they know you, the more you're identified with a certain kind of role. People always used to ask me about typecasting and I never had to really worry about it. You think people will judge you by your work. But the truth is, it's about whether the film you're in makes money or not. And if it's not making money, they're like, 'Oh, he's over.'"

His ultimate goal.
"You keep trying to make your name stand for something other than just like meaningless celebrity. It's a difficult battle, but I think people like Johnny Depp have done that. He's not judged by his public image, it's just his acting that counts. To get to that place takes a lot of discipline and a lot of hiding."

Last week I got to interview Robert Pattinson for his new movie Remember Me. Since he’s answered every possible question regarding the Twilight franchise and his other upcoming projects, what I decided to do was ask the people who follow me on Twitter to supply me with questions. While I knew I’d get a few things to ask…I was not prepared for the amount of emails and tweets that would be sent my way. I was blown away.

Since so many of you asked about certain things like would he do a commentary on the Remember Me DVD and what was up with his music, I didn’t single out any one person when I asked the questions. Just know I read every single email and tweet you sent in. Saying that, I mentioned who provided me with the first question, and we also talked about what he’d like to do if he had a free day in New York City and will he ever get into social networking. If you’re a fan of Robert Pattinson, I’m confident you’ll like this interview as I made sure to ask a few things that haven’t previously been asked.

No one can say Robert Pattinson — best known as Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” movies — doesn’t suffer for his craft. While shooting “Remember Me,” his new film out Friday, “RPatz” had a near-brush with death. The actor was so besieged by fans on the film’s Union Square set that, to the chagrin of his five bodyguards, they once shoved him off a curb and into the side of a moving cab.

But his latest turn as a depressed New Yorker in “Remember Me” is providing an even greater trial. His first non-vampire role since the “Twilight” series began is a pivotal moment in his career. Will his total immersion in one of the biggest-grossing film franchises ever be the one thing he’s always associated with, or will it be a stepping stone to a bigger career?

The low-key Brit is loath to talk up his own skills; he’s raised self-deprecation to an art form in his bedheaded, aw-shucks interviews. “I wasn’t an actor-y kid or anything,” Pattinson, 23, has said of his London childhood, where his decision to join the local theater club was a bit of a fluke.

Lily Saltzberg, publicist for the Pattinson documentary “Robsessed,” explains: “He was at a cafe with his dad, and there were all these cute girls [from the theater], and he’s really shy, and his dad was like, ‘You need to start acting, to meet people.’ ”

“He’s a really, really nice guy, very shy,” confirms a fellow former member of the Barnes Theatre Club, where a teenage Pattinson started out working backstage but ended up auditioning for roles in plays including “Guys and Dolls” after, he’s said, “all the good people left.”

It’s become a sort of trend among actors to protest ever having been deliberately “actor-y.” But in Pattinson’s case, there are dubious origins. Beauty, not acting chops, snagged Pattinson his first real gig. Director Uli Edel, casting for his TV movie “Ring of the Nibelungs” in 2003, found a photo of the 17-year-old Pattinson. “I was very impressed with his looks,” he says. “And then I had a screen test with him. Let’s just say . . . it was a combination of talent and looks.”

On set, Edel says, “He did a great job. It wasn’t a huge part, but he was very disciplined, very serious about his acting.”

Still, when his fellow cast members talked, they weren’t lauding his talent. “Even the older women were saying, ‘He’s so damn good-looking!’ ” says Edel.

After a smallish part in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” Pattinson took to the boards at the Royal Court Theatre in London’s West End, in a play called “The Woman Before.” But something went wrong during rehearsals, and he was replaced with another actor shortly before opening night.

What happened? To hear Pattinson tell it, he was sacked for being too experimental. “I liked the freedom . . . you could do with acting,” he told You magazine. “For that same reason — trying to take risks — I got fired from that play.”

Paul Morrison, who directed Pattinson in “Little Ashes,” offered a more concrete clue. The actor played Salvador Dali in Morrison’s 2008 film, and like the surrealist painter, his behavior was unpredictable.

“He didn’t really nail [the part] until the last day of rehearsal,” Morrison says. “I was a little worried. But he kept saying to me, ‘I’m fine when the camera’s rolling.’ ”

That movie was savaged by critics (its Rotten Tomatoes rating stands at 24 percent fresh), but Morrison has nothing but praise for Pattinson. “He was very committed,” says the director. “He did a lot of research on his own — if he wasn’t on set, he spent all day hunched over his laptop looking for Dali.”

And then “Twilight” happened. Overnight, Pattinson became a household name. Hysterical crowds at his public appearances began to be described as “Beatles-esque” in their numbers and lung power.

But the jury’s still out on his staying power. “Remember Me” director Allen Coulter says RPatz is the real deal. “People have made comparisons to James Dean, and I don’t think that’s inaccurate,” he says. “Or maybe a young Warren Beatty.”

Coulter says Pattinson had jumped at the chance to play someone “close to himself” and that, as with previous movies, he gave it his all. “He seemed very concerned about the inner life of the character, and was very demanding of himself,” Coulter says.

Early buzz on the film has been mixed, but his former directors are optimistic. “I know he can do more,” says Morrison. “His public persona is that he doesn’t take fame too seriously, but actually, he does take acting very seriously. I can see him doing what Leonardo DiCaprio did, getting beyond being a heartthrob and broadening his range.”

“Twilight” fans, whose sheer numbers ought to command some industry attention, also believe in the power of RPatz. In a recent Fandango/MTV poll, 43 percent said he’d be the first star from the series to bring home an Oscar.

But some in Hollywood harbor doubts. “I fear brooding becomes tiresome after a while,” says a casting agent, who offered a bit of advice. “Get thee to an acting class, Rob, if you want to be doing this after the age of 30!”

The consensus is that Robert Pattinson has mastered the James Dean art of brooding as the sullen poster boy for the latest generation.

Pattinson's heartthrob status has been defined by his portrayal of the conflicted vampire-in-recovery, Edward Cullen, in the popular Twilight film series based on the Stephenie Meyer novels.

First, there was Twilight in 2008, New Moon last year and Eclipse set for release, to a great deal of anticipation, on June 30. Breaking Dawn, the finale, is expected to be released as two movies over the next few years.

In other words, the English actor is committed to the Edward sulk for at least another few films. But that doesn't mean Pattinson's become self-entitled or satisfied with his accomplishments.

His latest effort to expand on his brooding horizons arrives with his role in Remember Me, which opens March 12.

In the romantic drama, set in life-altering new millennium times, Pattinson plays Tyler, a rebellious young New Yorker who clashes with his overbearing father (Pierce Brosnan) in the aftermath of his brother's sudden death.

Only when Tyler meets up with the charming Ally (Emilie de Ravin) does he find some peace of mind and a reason to believe, though this may be threatened by Ally's protective Manhattan cop dad (Chris Cooper).

To say that Pattinson as Tyler redefines James Dean's Rebel Without a Cause angst is not an exaggeration, although the actor expresses some reservations about the assessment.

"I think it's a fairly typical state to be in," notes Pattinson of the classic rebellious posturing of his character. "And yes, I think there's that element, but I was also interested in the arrogant things about Tyler."

The good news for Pattinson is that he could protect the delicate tone and texture as a producer on the film. Yet, he's hesitant to take credit.

"I'm kind of embarrassed about the producing thing, because I wasn't really acting like a proper producer," he confesses. "I only came on after filming to help make sure the product was the product we all wanted to make at the end."

Indeed, Remember Me is precious to him, so he wanted to ensure the project wasn't modified or diminished in the post-production phase.

"The way Tyler reacted to specific things seemed very relatable to me," Pattinson admits. "I hadn't seen a character like it in a hundred scripts, so when it came available between filming New Moon and Eclipse, I went for it, because it seemed like a perfect fit."

He has lots of choices available to him, thanks to Twilight. Before his debut as a vampire, the London-born Pattinson was introduced to the modelling world by his mother, Clarie, who worked for an agency in the city. He was successful as a teen and found time to get involved in a neighbourhood theatre group while performing pop music as well.
