The 23-year-old actress plays Robert’s adopted sister Alice Cullen in the Twilight film franchise. The young star was completely unprepared for her meteoric rise to fame, and admits she was terrified by the attention she started getting after the first film premiered.

While the rest of her world seemed to be spinning out of control, Ashley says she stayed sane by trying to be more like Robert because he has remained “completely unaffected” by his fame.

“Robert Pattinson, who plays my adoptive brother in the Twilight films, has been one of my biggest inspirations,” Ashley said. “As a person, he’s not like anyone I’ve ever met in Hollywood, and as an actor he’s a complete natural. He has no ego.

“Everyone loves him, but he’s unaffected by that and never seems fazed by the attention that comes his way. He’s not changed a bit since I worked with him on the first Twilight movie.”

Ashley says the level of fan attention has increased as the vampire drama series progresses. At first, she found her “devoted” fans “slightly terrifying” but has now learnt to be flattered by their attention.

“When I started out as an actress I thought only about work. I never stopped to consider what it would be like to be famous,” she explained to British newspaper The Daily Mail.

“The Twilight movies attract extremely devoted fans. When they meet me their reactions are sometimes a little odd. Quite often they just stand in front of me and start crying and shaking. It was slightly terrifying at first, but I’ve learnt to accept it.

“So long as people are responding in a positive way, that’s a huge compliment to me and to the movies I’m in.”

Anna Kendrick was speechless when she first met Robert Pattinson.

The two met when making the first Twilight movie, where Anna plays high school gossip Jessica Stanley and Robert plays vampire Edward Cullen.

While most girls are dazzled by Robert’s good looks, Harry Potter fan Anna says she couldn’t get Robert’s earlier cinematic role as a wizard out of her head. “The first time I met Robert Pattinson, I kept thinking, ‘Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter!’” she told Glamour magazine.

Robert is known for his love of music, but according to Anna the star preferred reading books to rocking out during the shooting of the movie.

“He never got his guitar out on set, but always carried a beat-up book, like an English poet,” she revealed.

Anna went on to describe the nerves she experienced when she attended this year’s Oscars ceremony as she was surrounded by so many of her acting heroes. The successful young star was nominated for an award but admits she was more worried about falling over.

“The Oscars was so nerve wracking! Every other person is someone you’ve admired forever. I was more worried about tripping over in front of Penιlope Cruz than winning,” she joked.

The star also revealed some advice George Clooney gave her when they starred in the Oscar-nominated comedy Up in the Air.

“George Clooney told me, ‘You can make a bad movie out of a good script, but you can’t make a good movie out of a good script. That was duly noted,” she said.

The lure of seeing “Twilight Saga” star Robert Pattinson was enough to get a host of women to camp out overnight in front of NBC Studios in Burbank on Monday night.

Although that fact proves he doesn’t need it, when the British actor appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Tuesday, Robert revealed that his dad has given him advice to use on the ladies.

“He sends me these great things,” Robert said, breaking out his PDA, which contained an e-mail from his dad. “I’m sorry to do this, but I thought it was so sweet… He’s like, ‘Dear Rob, I’ve been thinking about gestures and a good one in my opinion is to kiss a lady’s hand.

”‘It’s very romantic and refined,’” Robert continued, quoting his dad’s note as Papa Pattinson blushed and shook his head from the “Tonight Show” audience. “‘Offer her hand ostensibly to kiss… Shake and then the kiss. I impressed your mother that way.’”



The “Eclipse” star also told Jay that his dad has advised him on celebrity behavior too.

”‘Dear Rob, I was thinking last night about Yves Montand, the great French actor,’” Robert recounted, reading another e-mail with a laugh. “‘And I thought about his elegant way of acknowledging the audience at an Oscar ceremony by gripping his wrist with one hand and raising both arms aloft… I know I’ve mentioned this before, but the reason I was thinking about it [was] because I watched a program last night on TV featuring some current celebrities here and I was shocked by how vulgar they were.’”

Robert admitted he was thinking of trying out the noble wrist and hand raising gesture, but said he hadn’t found an opportunity to use it properly.
